Gabriela Byrne
Former Athlete Gabriela Byrne was addicted to poker machine gambling for more than four years. Besides losing more than $40,000 gambling, she also lost many friends, 2 jobs and nearly ruined her marriage. She even contemplated suicide. Gabriela now ministers and has developed recognised strategies to help people overcome the problems of Gambling. |

John Van Groningen - Red Dust Role Models
John, chaplain to the Western Bulldogs (AFL), is truly one of SCA's inspirational chaplains and leaders. Hear how he has gone about ministering to thousands of indigenous young people and communities with people like Shane Warne, Allan Border and Kyle Vander Kuyp in the Northern Territory and about his new journey serving people overseas. Gambling In Sport - The Chaplains Overview - Various Speakers
The effects of gambling with sports people and their families often have very public and destructive consequences. And few sports communities have the skills to address it. We will discuss practical strategies for chaplains in an open forum and focus groups.
